calabria italy trip help

We will be driving from Sicily to Naples during the week of March 14th. We would most appreciate suggestions on places to stop for a 1 or 2 night stay as we make our way to pompeii. I have been reading about Tropea, amantea, san lucido and maratea. Thanks so much for the help.

I like the Maratea area, and you can easily include Paestum as you drive north from there.

I have been to both cities and would prefer to stay at Maratea. It is about midway between Sicily and Naples. If your budget can afford it I would highly recommend THE SANTA VENERE HOTEL in Maratea. We happened upon the hotel while making that drive about 15 years ago and what was to be an overnight stop turned into a 3 day stay. W

Sorry for the interruption on the above message. My PC does strange things sometimes. We loved the hotel and the town. As to Tropea it is a very nice town however so close to Sicily it really would not break up your trip. Have a great trip.

Saw your post and it interested me. We are going to be in Calabria region in Sept. but mostly in Catanzaro and perhaps Tropea, etc. Would love to hear about your trip so please report back after March.

We too will be traveling to Lamezia Terme in Calabria for a family wedding with our 3 children (ages 12, 10 and 8). We have never been to the area and are interested in accomodations, etc. We are not opposed to staying within a 30 min drive. We would love an inn/b&b/albergo recommendation with suite for our family. And most importantly our own bath with shower.
