Thanks Mike- We are planning on renting a car for a 2 day trip to Ronda. Since we will have a car for a while, are there other suggestions for day trips using a car ? We will probably drive to Seville. Been there on a day trip, but do you recommend spending a night ?

Of course drive to Seville from Ronda via some of the famous White Villages - have you been to Seville before - if not definitely worth a few nights at least. Not much you can do on a half-day by car.

I trust you realize that you don't need a car to reach Ronda? It has rail and bus connections to various cities. Check rome2rio.com for your options.

I wish I'd had more than 3 full days for Sevilla itself (no day trips), and can easily imagine spending much, much more time there, particularly if traveling at a leisurely pace (I do not).

Not to mention that a 1- or 2-day car rental costs as much as a 3-day rental, and then you have to deal with the hassle and cost of parking.

Sevilla is worth way more than a single night. We spent 5 and it seemed short.

I think Seville merits at least two (2) days (or an entire day and then depart around 4pm back to Cadiz.). Other day trips, apart from what I mentioned, would include Arcos de la Frontera, Medina-Sidonia, and Chipiona. I mentioned El Puerto de Santa Maria. You reach that town by way of a 20 minute ferry/catamaran ride from Cadiz which is very pleasurable.

Thanks everyone. It seems to be clear that we should spend more time in Seville. Any recommendations of a well situated hotel >

I would not stay in the Santa Cruz area; I find it pretty but far too crowded with tourists. I've stayed there in the past but now prefer almost anywhere else. What is your budget? I've booked a hotel in the Arenal for this winter, for a week.

I will be interested to hear how you liked Cadiz as a base town. We were impressed by this historic city and would like to return there. It has wonderful seafood which is important to us.

HappyT: Can you recommend any particular place for seafood in Cadiz? I am going to be there for 5 nights this winter, solo. I want to go to Barbate, to El Campero, but other than that, have not had any strong recommendations for restaurants. Opinions on El Faro seems mixed, and I know Casa Tino is one good place for fried anenome, which I love..maybe I ought to start a new thread here....

Eks- I am traveling so do not have access to my files;I will not return home until late October. I’ll take a look at Cadiz restaurants online to see if the names jog my memory.
