Cable car Chamonix to Courmayeur

Hello
Given that the tunnel between Chamonix to Courmayeur will be closed beginning September 1, 2025 my wife and I would like to take the cable system one way over the mountain - Aiguille du Midi, Pointe Helbronner and then the Skyway Monte Bianco to La Palud. Assuming the weather cooperates can anyone advise the approximate cost , can you buy same day tickets or must they be ordered in advance? can we bring backpack luggage?
It's been difficult to find helpful info
Thank you, Bill

It's difficult to find help, indeed. May be you will hae a look at:
Billeterie_FR.pdf
the only site where you can find one way fares, at least from Chamonix up to Pointe Hellbronner
Italian leg: https://www.montebianco.com/en/info/...y-monte-bianco
The total OW fare will be 148 EUR/pax

Actually tickets for the next days are amost sold out.https://shop-aiguilledumidi.montblan.../?s=2025-08-29
But don't forget that high season in France and Italy will end within 1 week.

Normal sized backpacks (but not very huge one's!) aren't a problem.

I wouldn't book long ago, as the crossing by bad time is rather a horror than a pleasure or even imposssible (if the winds are too strong).

If your final destination is Aosta, you may also check the bus Martigny dp 8.30am (needs to spend a night at Martigny).
for Turin, check the trains via Annecy - Chambery - Oulx or the Flixbus Annecy - Turin,
for Milan those via Martigny - Brig - Domodossola.

When I was there June 2024, they made a decision each day which cable cars would run according to weather. (Ticket person said weather became more predictable later in summer)
I purchased Midi in advance, then Helbronner when I reached Midi and the ticket window opened. I did roundtrip to there, not onward.

The first cars were standing, very crowded, so small pack could be held in front. Three cars to Helbronner contain two benches so you sit and can hold small pack in lap.

It was a magnificent experience.
