Cab from London Gatwick to Victoria Station?
I read from Gatwick Expres that a single trip ticket costs about 12 pounds. If we have 4 people in our group that would be 40 pounds. How much do you think is hailing a cab to go to Victoria Station?

To be honest, it will be SO much easier, quicker and more direct to get the Gatwick Express that I really wouldn't even think about getting a cab. Gatwick is almost half an hour on the train from Victoria; in traffic, a cab could take at least an hour. The drive in through Purley, Norbury, Streatham, Brixton etc is neither scenic nor efficient (unless it's at 2am).
The cab price will probably be about the same, or a bit cheaper than the train, but I wouldn't even consider it given the hassle. If price is an issue, you can get the local train for about £8 (? - others may have a better idea of the exact price) and even though that takes a tad longer, it's still probably a better idea.

Yes there are sometimes 4 for 2 specials. But even if you had to pay full price the Express would be better than a taxi. (a car service would be better than a taxi too, but not as good as the train)
Gatwick is about 30 miles outside of London - a cab will run in the neighborhood of £60 - maybe even more depending on you final destination. A cab will take a MINIMUM of an hour and very likely much more if you arrive during the morning commute.
the train takes 30 mins.
Now if budget is an issue - and you can't get one of the 2 for 1's - You can catch the thameslink train instead of the express. It will take about 10 mins longer and save you some money.

GATWICK EXPRESS !
made the mistake once of taking the local train Gatwick to victoria ( not recommended with luggage, especially after a morning arrival----had to fight the commuters ) what a headache.
