buying spices in madrid, barcelona and andelucia shawls in seville
Any suggestions as to where to buy spices? Does one have to worry about the saffron being fake?
any good places for authentically spanish-made shawls in seville?
we leave on Monday. thanks...

Hmm well the saffron should be real, but check Maribel's guides for some of the marketplaces. I think I got some at Corte Ingles actually.
As for the shawls, "authentically made" ?
Be aware so many shawls are now made in China. A zillion are sold online these days.
The most beautiful & costly are real silk. But they sell all kinds at different price points. What is it yu want, and for what purpose? Gift? For yourself to wear?

I know you said Sevilla, but if you go to Madrid check out a store called "Gil" they sell mantones, mantillas & abanicos
(shawls, mantillas & fans)
Gil is located at Carrera de San Jeronimo, 2 28014 Madrid
Tel is 34 91 521 2549
The ladies are very accomodating, take your time ask to see different styles & colors. The store is big but everything has to be brought to you on a counter for you to see. Don't be shy about looking at alot of different shawls before deciding. Tke your time they are used to it.
Even the polyester shawls are beautiful & can get pricey too. I have a stunning huge black poly shawl with multi color embroidery that my mom bought at Corte Ingles. Don't assume they are more expensive there and in fact you will need to get a feel for the prices first. I suggest you look online to have a general idea of prices for silk & polyester, then you can feel better about your choice of your shawl.
Again many many online stores make "Spanish" shawls in China & other places.
I have not bought from these just found them online to give an idea of price

I would go to the places mentined on Maribel's guides too, such as Lina in Sevilla is a well known dance store.

Remember they are likely observing siesta between 1-4 ish

OK last one, I should have known that Maribels's guides already mentions Foronda along with other places.
