Buxton, Monyash, Peak District

Hi

I'm just looking at a B&B for May, and I was wondering about the convenience of this area for Eyam, some other villages, and Chatsworth.

I will post a B&B link when I find it (still searching) but would like feedback on the area. We will have a car, be coming from Liverpool, stopping in the Peak District for 3 nights then going on to Cambridge and London. We will drop the car in Cambridge.

Thanks.

I've not stayed in Monyash - it is a pretty small village - but did eat in the Bulls Head. I have stayed in Bakewell a couple of times and used it as a base for Chatsworth etc.

Bakewell would make a good base. We liked staying in Buxton, a bigger, more sophisticated town, and driving to various sights in the Peaks, including Chatsworth. Did not make it to Hardwick Hall to my regret.

Stayed in a cottage in Winster a few years ago which was great for visiting the area. Bakewell is a nice town and would make a good base for visiting Hardwick Hall (old and New side by side), Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and Eyam. May is Well dressing time in the Peak District. Ashford-in-the-Water has six wells so is worth a visit if you are there at the right time.

We stayed at the Old Hall Hotel in Buxton in 2013, which we really enjoyed. We used it as a base to visit Chatsworth and Haddon Hall. It was a lovely drive to each site from Buxton.

Thanks everyone.

I think we want a fairly rural stop for this part of the trip.

The rest of the time will take us to Liverpool, Cambridge and London, and we do like English countryside.
