Hi JR - Wouldn't train be better?
There are some direct services. Others require a change of train at Foligno. For details:
www.trenitalia.com
If you prefer to go by bus the operator is Sulga.
The service leaves from Tiburtina Bus Station (- outside the railway sation) and goes via Perugia.
€ 16.50 single
€ 26.50 return
You can find timetables on their website:
http://www.sulga.it/autolinee/linee/orario.asp?ID=3
Hope this helps ...

That was very helpful. Thank you.
The train schedule doesn't really work for us but the bus is not much better!
So, train, it will be.
When Trenitalia says that there is a "station change", I assume that means that it's a train and track change in Foligno, not another station in another part of town? That may seem like an odd question but I've had it happen where the next train was in another location all together!
And by the way, while I have your attention on another thread you gave me more very helpful info on the 110 bus in Roma. Can you begin the tour (on 110)at any of the stops or do you have to start at the Termini?
We leave October 10th and I am starting to get a little nervous about the details as my travel partners are depending on me to make the plans!

JaneRebecca,
Foligno is a little station, and "station change" means you change trains at the station, not go to another station. Have a great trip. I'm sure you're doing a wonderful job planning. Your travel partners owe you a nice dinner and many trips to the gelateria.

Hi Jane - Leely's right - it's a simple change of platform at Foligno.
The Assisi train usually runs as a connecting service, so you won't have to wait ...
N.B. Assisi station is a 15-20 mins bus-ride from Assisi itself. The bus leaves from outside the station ...
Buy bus tickets before boarding from the station bar (- it's best to let the driver know, so he waits for you) - and validate them on boarding.
Hope this belps ...
