Bus from Lisbon to Lagos

Hi,
We're flying into Lisbon next Sunday. Does anyone know if we have to purchase bus tickets from Lisbon to Lagos ahead of time? If so, does anyone know how to? Any advice/info would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Trains also run the route and you can buy those tickets just prior to the trains, which go about hourly.

I've never found it necessary to buy tickets ahead of time, just get to the station well ahead of your departure. I needed extra time when buying tickets as the ticket clerk spoke no English and I speak very little Portuguese. A phrase book really came in handy.

From what I understand from locals, taking the bus is preferable to the train. They show movies, come around with snacks, the buses are very clean, and if you have to change buses at any point, its very easy to do.

I don't think is high season right now, so NO you don't need to buy tickets ahead of time. LIke "ashields" stated, just go to the station ahead of time, and you'll be able to get tickets. By the way, they do not take credit cards, just make sure you have cash to pay the tickets. Here are some of the buses that go from Lisbon to Lagos: http://www.eva-bus.net/home.php?lang=PT

Has anyone taken this bus lately? I heard that Portugal introduced smoking restrictions but that no one follows them. I really want to go to Lagos but I have asthma and worry about a 4 hours bus ride with lots of smoking. Might the train be better?

I'm flying into Lisbon in August (arriving Saturday morning) and am going directly to Lagos. Should I order bus tickets in advance? If so, is it possible to order them online?
Thanks!

Although you do not need to purchase tickets in advance, seats are assigned. If you purchase your ticket early, you can be assured of a seat closer to the front of the bus.
