Burgundy canal boat trip
We are traveling by canal boat with 4 adults and 4 teenagers for the first time in July. We have narrowed our route choices to Chatel-Censoir to Migennes OR Decize to Chatillon-sur-Loire.
We would like to choose a route that appeals to everyone in our group and enjoy Bastille Day wherever we happen to be on the 14th. Suggestions?

We did the Burgundy canal years ago. I chose the route from Saint-Florentin to Monbard because it had the most "old stones" within walking distance of the canal. Why are you limiting yourself to these two itineraries?

The photos between the two maps were taken on that trip.

1) you need enough births. For our family of 5 we used an 8 birth boat and that was about right. So for 8 you might need 11 or 12 births.
2) worth working out en-familie how often you will eat our and how often cook in
3) one way of getting to supermarkets, getting rid of the kids and to restaurants see if you can hire bicycles from the supplier.

The first canal Chatel-Censoir to Migenne is really lovely and has some lovely little wine ACs around Auxerre (Irancy, Chablis, Auxerre, etc)
The second is along the Loire and there are a fair few little wine ACs you could even drop south to Sancerre if you want.
I'd drop the first
