It might be argued that this place - - in the Beaujolais (the very southernmost region of Burgundy) isn't "classic" Burgundy - - but I still recommend it solidly - - Chateau de Longsard - - http://www.chateauxandcountry.com/chateaux/longsard - - for more info.

Others will give equally strong raves (maybe even more so - - but it is more expensive) for Chateau de Gilly - - much nearer to Beaune (and thus, truly IN "classic" Burgundy).

Best wishes,

Rex
We really enjoyed Beaune. The Athenor Tulip Inn was very nice and convenient. The "hospital" is outstanding and the wine tasting excellent. We stayed there two nights and enjoyed 90% of it.

The only problem for us, we were there on 9/11 and our waitress told us of the WTC.

However a great place to visit and stay for a couple of days. You can also easily train to Dijon for the day as well.
