I agree with all the replies, esp. about Rex seeing a therapist because he so obviously needs help.
HOWEVER, I think comments like these just egg him on.
Maybe he will stay in Assissi and commune with the good lord?
Ah, we should all be so lucky.

Rex, I have found your info most helpful in the past and we are coincidentally heading to a villa just outside Assisi on May 30th...assuming you will be back by then, could you be on the lookout for walking tours of the area suitable for a reasonably fit pair of 50-year olds accompanied by two very fit 18 year-olds? We are particularly interested in circles, where we can ditch the car (safely) hike, picnic and return directly to the car, probably 8 miles max. in distance. I know this is really specific but thats why I go to this site and it hasn't let me down yet (except for Abruzzo info and I guess I will just have to write a guide myself!!)

What if Rex posted and nobody replied? Not one person answered or acknowledged him in any manner at all. Wonder how long before he'd bail out because he wasn't the constant center of attention on Fodor's? Face it, he gets what he needs by coming here, constant conflict and confrontation.

And this place HAS been great without him this week.

You know I am a really regular poster.. who is operating under an alias here, but even I am really getting sick of Rex.... and believe me... if he can irritate me he really has gone to extremes.. whew! I try so hard to be nice but man that guy, he's everywhere. I really hope he stays away for a long time!

I challenge you all to take the Rex pledge:

"Henceforth, I will not reply to anything Rex posts. No matter how much he posts. No matter how annoying he is. This will allow me to deal Rex the ultimate blow -- he will be a non-entity on the board. The horror!"

I think Rex gives us a lot of great info, and I can't understand why people are so rude to him (please don't waste space/time trying to explain, b/c I don't want to read your negative comments. I like him). If you don't care for him or what he has to say, then JUST DON'T READ his posts.

Rex - Looking forward to your trip report.

Thanks, "nice° - - this might be my last access from Europe. Train from Venice today (Wednesday here in europe now) back to Rome for two more nights, then fly home Friday.

Using "Net House" this morning in Campo S. Stefano - - really an incredible place - - SIXTY computers all with these beautiful flat screens - - open 24 hours a day, with cheap international calls (20 cents a minute, no setup charge), plus mic and speakers (headsets) if you're REALLY homesick and want to use "voice chat" or some other method of "talking" over the internet - - though, on second thought - - maybe it's just about the same price as "real phone" since you pay for the time on the computer.

Anyhow, much more to tell when I get back.

Best wishes,

Rex
Hello Rex

In all honesty, this forum has been much improved by your absence.

It would be greatly appreciated, by a huge majority, if you were to stop posting altogether.

Many thanks, in hopeful anticipation

Clive

Fodorites, one and all, let's make a pact right now. We will not respond any further to Rex's threads.
Let every single one of them sink like a rock because no one posted, or he and his fawning cronies repeatedly top it, but STOP giving him the attention he so desperately craves. Greet him with silence. Starting now!
