budget hotels in Greece
Hello all,
we'll be travelling to greece in late may and we need suggestions for cheap hotels (around 60 Euros) in Mykonos, Santorini, Heraklion and Chania. we would like a place with private bathrooms and AC, and also in the town center or within short walking distance(5 to 10 mins) to the town center. One exception is for Santorini where we might want to stay in Oia. I've looked around the board and found some suggestions already, but would like to see if there are more. for mykonos i have found only hotels that's about 10 to 15 mins walking distance to the town.
any suggestions are appreciated! thanks in advance.

I was at hotel el greco in Chania last year. I think is within your budget. Great location, 5 min walking to the port, restaurants etc. Great buffet breakfast, too!.
In Heraklion I stayed just for one night at Dedalos Hotel, it is centrally located and it is cheap, but it is too old...
Hope this helps

For Mykonos, I found Vienoula's Garden but i read that it's a little far to walk into town.
For Santorini i've got Delfini, ecoxenia and king Thira. we haven't decided if we want to stay in oia or fira as we are not party-type of people, but we dont mind the noise in town either. location is really important to us.
Heraklion i still didn't find anything and for Chania, every thing i found was not right in the center.
My budget is around 60 Euros.
Cristina, did you book the El Greco in Chania ahead of time? if so, how? i can't find a website of it.
thanks all!!

I just answered your query regarding Chania and gave you links to 3 hotels... now I have a suggestion for Mykonos (an island I myself would give a miss, but I have a friend there).
I agree that it's better to stay in or close to town & get a bus to the beach. I trust you have a map to refer to. My friend Angela has a v. nice B & B which is just a couple hundred steps uphill from the "bus Square". Her place is just behind a hotel called "Despotika." They have the same steps up from the road... you just then walk past Despotika's entry about 10 yards, and there's a rose-covered fence & a sign, "Angela".
That's her. Behind her hone/studio (she is an artist are 2 whitewashed units w. balcony or patio-- upstairs has view of sea. Great Showers (US style -- she's from Chicago, married to a GReek). I think May room fee is about 48-50E which for Mykonos is GOOd. and location is primo--right on edge of town, yet quiet at night. You can e-mail her at [email protected], and if you promise to behave yourselves
you can say Janet recommended her.
Don't wait though -- you DO know that May 25-28 is Holy Spirit Weekend (i.e. Pentecost) which is equivalent to our Memorial Weekend getaway -- and the gilded Youth of Athens all flock to Mykonos to air-kiss & club all night. Angela is usually booked solid, but maybe not yet.
Have a great time!
