Budapest: Vaci Utca to Airport transportation options?

I think I'm beginning to make a Pest of myself, with questions.

So why stop now?

As I understand it, there is an airport shuttle from various hotels to Budapest airport? Anyone know if this shuttle makes a lot of pickups at different points on a morning run? Are there other good transport options to get to the airport for a Saturday morning (8:15am) flight out, other than the obvious taxi? Length of time to make the trip?

I'll take whatever insights you have! I'd do the airport hotel route if I had to, but..

Thanks,
Cliff

I used the airport shuttle service from the airport to my apartment near the Chain Bridge in Budapest and back last May. The service was cheap and efficient. I guess I did not keep the phone number so can't help you with that but their kiosk is in the airport terminal (easy to find as airport is small). I called them the day before my flight out of Budapest and they picked me up right on time at about 6:30 am on a Saturday morning. They will deliver you and pick you up at any hotel you name. It took about 20 or 25 minutes to get to the airport from center city Budapest. I will use them again for sure.

I've not used the airport shuttle in Budapest but will tell you to be careful with taxis. Their fares are not regulated like they are in the States, so don't be afraid to negotiate with the driver. If he/she won't budge, walk away and go to the next guy in line.

Thanks for the information Larry. This does seem like the most reasonable way to go. I'd prefer to spend the last night in the city if possible, as our time there is short enough (3 nights there, then returning again after Romania for that last night) so this should help squeeze a little more in.

jc, I'll try to watch out for the taxis. Not sure if we'll end up in any, but have been dumb enough to be burned (slightly) before. A reminder is always appreciated.

Thanks!
