Budapest for 20 year old single

I have a chance to travel to Budapest this summer. I will be staying with a hungarian family. Is it safe? Do I need a visa to stay for three or four weeks? How much English is spoken? How expensive will it be? Is there one airline better than another? What kind of cost for airline should I expect? Anything else that I should know? I am always amazed how much good info the fodorites provide.

You don't need a visa for a visit for 3-4 weeks. English is spoken mostly by the under 30 crowd and in the tourist areas. The money question really depends on you.... if you're staying with someone then you probably only need about $40 per day....for museum stuff, food, transportation, and some gifts. I am flying to Budapest through Brussels on American in May and it's about $800 round trip. Have fun!
