We stayed in the Marriott on Pest's side. They are both beautiful. There seems to be more things happening in Pest, but Buda is great also.

Stu, that's ironic. She must have loved the architecture as much as I did!

You MUST go to the House of Hungarian Wines near the Hilton Hotel-it was a fun time sampling many many different kinds of wine for an inexpensive price. Rows upon rows of wine with historical and cultural info tips by the wine. My daughter and I took the tour by ourselves and it was great fun.
We also went out to Statue Park which is outside of Budapest and consists of all of the Cold War statues-very interesting and unusual. Its an open air park and can be reached by public bus for hardly any money.

I hope you are still monitoring this thread as I have some questions about your trip. My wife and I are going on a Vantage river cruise in late August and are also going to stay a few days in Budapest after the cruise. We will be staying at the Marriott. Did you post anymore threads on this subject? BTW how did the wedding go?

rharnold98,
I have not posted much else about the trip other than comments on a few thread; we came home with head colds plus we have had visiting children/grandchildren for weeks. Everyone is gone and I hoping to sit down and do a report.

We had a fabulous time on our river cruise with Uniworld, cannot say nice enough things about our experience. And we loved our extra days in Budapest as well. We contacted Gabriella Turok, mentioned above, and she gave us a wonderful tour of Jewish Budapest. Sorry we missed the Hungarian House of Wines, tho. If you have any specific questions, post them as a new thread and I am sure I, and others, will see and answer you, better than adding to this thread.

The wedding is in September, and it is my project for the rest of the summer.
