Bubbly wine

Yes, this is a bit silly, but here goes. I'm not a beer-drinker (and actually know/appreciate little about alcholic beverages) but I do love Asti -- what can I order in Germany that would be similar? PS - After reading several posting about German beers, I'll probably try a couple while we're there.

Look for the word "Sekt" on the wine list (German for "sparkling wine", generically) - - then ask the waiter "sooss"? (pronounced just like Dr. Seuss) - - to ask if it's sweet.

Best wishes,

Rex
More like "Zeus"--initial "s" in German is voiced. And the vowel isn't really "oo"--it's the same sound as French "u".

I agree on both counts. I was trying to make as simple as possible.
Tho' why you would want to drink sweet fizzy wine is beyond me. Most German sekt wine is rubbish mass market stuff not worth drinking. About 10% is any good, and it is uniformly dry. the label will say "brut". It should be made from a single grape- probably reisling- and will have a year vintage also on the label. Hope this helps.
