Bruges - NH Hotel
Does the NH Hotel in Bruges offer a complimentary breakfast?
I 'won' this hotel on Priceline and neither the Priceline site nor the hotel site mentions whether breakfast is included.
BTW, not the 4* hotel that I was hoping to get.... and there are only 2 on Priceline!!! My luck... 50/50 chance and I lose!

We very much enjoyed hotel NH Brugge in a former school and good location for walking into the city. And they have a fabulous breakfast (wife had herring) and we pocketed some snacks for lunch, too.
As for Bruges/Brugge what a charming city indeed. We enjoyed three relaxing days there a year ago.

>>>They want a whopping 21 Euros for breakfast!
This is typical of the NH chain these days. It's a good hotel chain, but they offer attractively priced rooms then try to hit you with a massive charge for b/fast. Normally it's just a continental b/fast as well - just cereals, bread rolls and some cold meat/cheese. Totally not worth it. Try a local cafe instead.

We recently "won" rooms at the NH Amsterdam Centre on Priceline. Breakfast was not included and at first the 19 euro per person breakfast seemed pricey, but it was well worth it. Much more than continental, the buffet offered plenty of breads/pastries, eggs, hot and cold meats, cheeses, hot and cold cereals, yogurt, coffee/tea and juices along with a selection of newspapers. This may differ by property, of course. If you are not a breakfast person or every penny counts you can probably find cheaper options for a more limited selection at a local cafe, but it was IMO good value for money for "the most important meal of the day." I'm one of those coffeeholics and refills on the java alone at a cafe (where refills are not typically free) would probably have run more than the price of the hotel breakfast. It's also nice to be able to just run upstairs to brush your teeth before hitting the streets.

I still think you are OK at NH Brugge...we liked it. Had a quaint charm. But the breakfast was included in our package. So it goes. For a cafe you don't need to walk far, just other side of a park.
Discount my previous comments about herring though as wife is thinking of another hotel (in Bergen).

Seamus, it's not that every penny counts and I guess it is worth it if you are a large breakfast eater but, for me, a yogurt and OJ is not worth throwing away 21 euros. I'd rather spend it towards a nice lunch.
Bill, thanks! It does look very nice and I can use the exercise! LOL!
