Need a base or two to stay for 3-4 nights. Driving from Bayeaux, and then on to the Loire Valley(Ambroise). Need nice place to please the wife. Will have car. Restaurant help appreciated too. Thanks in advance for the advice.

We based in Questembert and managed to see almost all of Brittany. We stayed at a wonderful hotel that has a first class restaurant. Questembert itself is a lovely small town

chateaudebouceel.com abmc.gov/cemeteries/cemeteries/br.php Great place to stay. Very near many sights. Another American cemetery [Saint James] that not many Americans visit. Plus, great host. Perhaps a bit more than three hours to Ambroise. Richard

We stayed in Dinan, which is certainly worth a day or so on its own, and is convenient for making day trips.

Dinan worked very well for us as well. In addition to really enjoying this small Medieval town, we also made easy day trips by car to St Malo, Dinard, and Rennes.

We've spent 2 weeks in the Dinan area, 2 weeks in the "Pink Rocks" region near near Treguier, and 1 week near Pont Aven. I think the best area for a first timer is the Dinan region. However, don't try to see all of Brittany in just 2-3 days - just stay east of St Brieuc & west of St Malo.

We stay in Gites, so I don't have any B&B or hotel recommendations.
