Buses are used for many reasons. You usually pay less for getting pax bussed than using jetway/gate.

Besides that, gates are alloted for certain time slots. If your incoming flight was delayed and used the designated gate, it would block the gate for longer than scheduled. Thus delaying or interfering with all flights using the same gate after your flight. I'd assume that this was the reason for you getting bussed to the terminal.

Some people here fly 2 or 3 times or less a year. Their perspective on efficient airport management is usually more forgiving than of those who travel once or more a week. I changed from one domestic carrier to another because of the "bus issue". The occasional traveller will probably not care at all.

You will also find people generally apologetic for anything. Hit them on the head and they say "Sorry". If an airport is able to run dozens of stores and restaurants, but cannot achieve a 99.x% ratio of systems in operation, they have their priorities wrong. But I'd address the airport management/ company to tell them of you bad experiences.

The people who run an airport charge airline companies (thus you as a passenger) using the terminals, and you, as a paying customer, when you part with your money in the stores or restaurants. In return, you can expect a flawless service. It's not as if any airport would offer a social service that one had to be grateful for.

So far I had bad experiences at otherwise good airports, good experiences at infamous airports, and vice versa. These days, air travel is nothing to look forward to, regardless of airline or destination. IMO.

Cowboy 1968 - I would disagree and argue the opposite. I have friends how work for multinationals and fall into the business flying twice a week category. They spend half their life experiencing crap service during travel and have become used to being treated like Bin Laden's secret cell until proven guilty.

I fall into the average 5 a year - all pleasure and expect high standards of service and to be treated like a customer not a terrorist.

However, I am aware that for years I have been paying around £450 a year for trans Atlantic flights. The tax has risen from zero to around £200. Clearly, some airlines have become very efficient whilst keeping standards high. BA in our experience have failed to do this.

"miserable slags" is harsh.

Snotty tarts is more forgiving. Interesting that most of them are double the age of the usual cabin crew. I presume that's because they don't leave their over-staffed, overpaid environment.

Oh! my bags just appeared. 27 hours late and they look like they had a good night on the tiles in the West End. One of them is ripped open. Just gets better!

Danon: BA has been doing that for quite a while. That's one reason I won't fly them again. If I can't make a seat selection when I make my reservation without paying more, I won't go on that airline. There are many fish in the sea.... which is one of many reasons they aren't doing well.
