Bringing Azulejos home
I'll admit it, I'm a tile junkie, and I've been salivating over the azulejos. Has anyone bought any in Portugal and shipped them home successfully? I imagine they would be pretty heavy in one's luggage
Am I better off buying online? and any suggestions of good places to shop for Azulejos? thanks

It will depend on how may tiles you want. And yes, they can get heavy, but shipping is better than trying to carry them in your luggage, again, depending on how may tiles you want.
Shopping for azulejos will depend on where you are and what you are looking for. They are available all over the country, but each area is different.

I've purchased tiles twice in Lisbon at Santa Anna tile fabricator http://www.santanna.com.pt/en They are located in Chiado.
There will be no import tax if you make the purchase while on your trip,if you are from the US (up to $ 800 US). I've also made a purchase via fax and paid a hefty import tax.
I used the tiles for a fireplace, they bring much pleasure to my home. Santa Anna will arrange the shipping.
