What is your definition of good breakfast? For me it means fast, light, convenient, and cheap. Not sit down, bacon & eggs, etc.

There is a lot of new commerce around the radio tower, world clock, and train station - it's a very busy crossroads in the old east Berlin.

There are numerous small bakeries, cafe's, and pastry and other food-to-go shops in and around Alexanderplatz.

I think you will have no trouble just browsing and finding a place to eat breakfast - no need to pre-plan.

The opposite side of Alexanderplatz, near the Rathaus and old church are more spread out, so head to the area near the train station if you're not already there.

Joanie-they actually have a huge number of little cafes, restaurants all around Alexanderplatz, (sort of like a food court) serving all types of food, including breakfast-and the food is good there too, you won't have a problem finding what you want to eat-good little seafood restaurants there as well.

If you're planning on going up the TV tower you can have breakfast in the revolving restaurant at the top. I did this last week and it was great to be able to sit and look at the view. Not too expensive. If the budget is really tight then there's a good bakery inside Alex station.
