Bordeaux--we want an experience

My husband and I are looking for a nice place to stay in Bordeaux in mid august. We wanted to stay at Chateau Coulon Laurensac because of their romantic atmosphere, fun cooking classes, dining, and wine tasting experiences but they were booked for the days we wanted.

Thanks for your help!!

Do you want to stay right in the city? If not, you might consider Chateau Cordellian Bages in the Medoc, the Haut Rive across the river in Bouliac, or the Chateau where the Caudalie spa is located (It's a Rothschild property, I think, but I'm blanking on which one).

Here's that Caudalie link I promised. It's on the grounds of Chateau Haut Smith Lafitte in the Graves appellation south of Bordeaux.

A wide variety of packages including cooking, wine, spa treatments, and sports are available.

Maybe you'll be lucky and get to see some way-out art at CAPC:

I saw interconnected washing machines in November. One was clear and sudsy, the second was yellow, the third was brown and the whole think smelled very, very badly.

The museum is a beautiful space. The cafe on the top floor is nice too.
