<<Rex, how much unwanted email do you get from posting you address?>>
I have never suspected that my posting my e-mail here is connected to any of the spam I get - - which is maybe 1-3 a day.
I also get 3-5 e-mail inquiries a month about Europe travel - - a low proportion, considering I have posted here over 8000 times in four and a half years. To virtually every one of those, I try to construct a thoughtful reply - - about why I am strongly opposed to private answers to private e-mail questions. Something like this...
Private questions and answers undermine the basic concept of the forum, in my opinion. Public answers to publicly asked questions help many people; private answers help - - at most - - one (and maybe not even that!); they lack the "cross-examination" and tangential answers that add to the richness of this forum. This thread is a perfect example.
I spend a lot of time answering questions here on this forum (as do many others); I could divert some considerable fraction of that time to private answers - - and then eventually, how would people know that people like me exist?
Finally, if someone thinks I know something about Europe travel, it's because the questions I choose to answer are chosen by me; when they're chosen for me by someone else, chances are, I may know nothing about the subject!

Well then I'm puzzled - I tried to book LHR-TLV tix on line in Feb. for April travel and could not get the website to take my US card, only could manage it on the phone. (I was traveling to LHR on FF miles booked through Alaska AL so couldn't add the TLV legs to a BA-issued itinerary.) Curious.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their advice. We have decided to go to Paris for a few days instead of Italy. I'm now busy planning out the details. I have 3 pages of notes on hotels, if anyone has a favorite in the 6e that's not over 200 euro/nt. I'd love the input. Thanks again.
