Booking a train

I have gone on the www.trenitalia.com website and tried booking seats. It will not allow me to purchase. Help!! Am I missing something so simple?

Has anyone booked on this site, who can give me guidance?

Thanks,

According to the website, some of the trains won't be available on line until 10 June. There are other trains that only give you the schedule but cannot be booked in advance, like regional trains.

Hi,

If we cannot book until June 10 - I am concerned that I won't get seats for our August holidy. There are 4 of us going. Should we book with someone else?

To my knowledge no one can book seats on the Italian trains more than 2 months in advance. You also only get reserved seats on the Eurostar trains. On the others you can secure a ticket but not a reserved seat.

I don't know if August is THE vacation month in Italy, as it is in some other European countries, but I think you will be fine waiting to book tickets until the 2 month earlier dates arrive. I personally did not book any trains prior to my arrival in Italy, but I was there in April. Remember that if you book seats way in advance you are locked into the dates and times.

Oh, it's in august. Then Deb15 is right, you cannot purchase more than two months in advance. Yes, August is italian vacation time also, so it's better if you book in advance.

annvan,

There is only one train company in Italy but you can buyu your tickets at several places. Rarely do you need reservations. For comfort contact BETS on www.budgeteuropetravel.com to get detailed advice.

Hi Ann,

>I am concerned that I won't get seats for our August holidy. <

You will.

Purchase your tickets 60 days in advance.

If you are making a RT on different days, buy the outgoing 60 days in advance and the the return when it opens.

Two one-way tickets are the same price as an RT.

Enjoy your visit.
