Forgive me for repeating myself from another thread but I should have replied here first.
If you're looking for non-fiction with exhilarating substance, keen insight, and a smart and sassy writing style, there's much NYC buzz behind Betsy Prioleau's "Seductress." This book has my name written all over it and I couldn't put my advanced copy down. It's a "must read" for every woman or men who love women. I believe it comes out in October.

Oooo, NYCFS, that looks great!
For airplane reading, I like Elmore Leonard or Carl Hiasson -- always safe bets for engaging page turners that can be forgotten immediately upon completion.
I can remember being utterly absorbed by 2 long books on long flights: The Alienist (Caleb Carr) and Snow Crash (Neal Stephenson).
