How pathetic. Everyone buys all this Nazi stuff. Heck, if it's in the newspaper, on TV, or in a traval website forum, it MUST BE TRUE! Oh my lord, Hitler is making a comeback, Himmler is opening up a new Dachau, the Luftwaffe is going to bomb London, and the tiny little Austrian army is going to take over continental Europe! Life is over as we know it!

So what that Haider has SOME power in the Austrian government. There was no coup or illegal scandal that got him in his position. It was Austrian voters. You people who are griping about it or spreading worry are the same people who believe every slant the media and government throw at you. There is only conjecture that he is a Nazi apologist. If any of you ever dared to pick up a book (no, not Tom Clancy) you might learn that there are two sides to history. Our country (USA) is wrought with scandal, and nothing Austria can do will ever approach the way our government has performed over the past 100 years. Research and find out about our "sabotaged" battleship Maine in Havana harbor. Or maybe about that "surprise" attack on Pearl Harbor. No, how about the Gulf of Tonkin "skirmish" that led us to Vietnam. Better yet, just keep up with what's happening in Iraq right now and you'll see why American and European "interests" aren't as righteous as they would have you believe.

Austria has their own borders, their own problems, and their own people to deal with them. Let it be.

Did anyone say that the USA was perfect?
I am a traveler first and foremost. I have my political beliefs, but that does not keep me from going somewhere in the world to learn more about a society, history and culture. Tourists can boycott, travelers should continue on their life learning experiences in different places.
