BMI v Easyjet v BA

Planning a trip from London to Edinburgh.BMI is the cheapest-£20 cheaper than Easyjet and £10 cheaper than BA.BMI and BA fly from Heathrow which is one to one a half hours from where I live and Easyjet flys from Stansted which is half an hour away.Have never flown with BMI but have with Easyjet (never on time;nofrills) and BA (liabel to change flights if some are not fully booked eg changed a 16:00 to 09:00 on New Years day!!!!!)Which one would u fly with and why? Many thanks.

I don't know enough about BMI.

BA flies out of more airports and more countries than do the other two. Since we often have itineraries that best suit open-jaw flights, we use BA.

We flew BMI a couple of years ago from London to Rome. It was pretty good. The aircraft was fairly new, service was very good, they even served sandwiches for lunch. Most important was that the flight was on time and baggage was not lost. I'd choose BMI if their fares are the lowest.

Hi, Serpico

Just curious...if you're that close to Stanstead and price is a consideration, why haven't you checked out Ryanair? Have you had a bad experience with them? I know they are even more bare-bones than EasyJet, but their prices are usually cheaper, too.

BMI is fine...we flew them from London to Rome also to catch a cruise....

No problem whatsoever-except the ROME airport air traffic controllers decided to go on strike AFTER we boarded in London..so we sat at a gate on the ground for 2 hours til we could get clearance that the strike was over...

But Plane was fine-crew was nice--No complaints whatsoever...
If it is cheaper-definite YES!

BMI is great! We flew from London to Paris in 45 min. They served complimentary drinks and huge sandwiches. They were also on time the day we flew.

We also flew with Easyjet from Bristol to Venice. The plane was on time but there were no frills at all. No assigned seats, drinks and snacks were provided for a charge.

I don't think it's worth checking out Ryanair as they don't fly from Stansted to Edinburgh, only Prestwick.

I've done the Stansted to Edinburgh with Easyjet a few times. Perhaps I've been lucky, but the flight's always been on time.

As for Heathrow-Edinburgh with BA, every time I've flown this flight it's been full, and certainly never rescheduled, so perhaps you've just been unlucky.

I would go with EJ, as you are so close to Stansted. Why schlep all the way down to H'row just so you can get a free sarny and drink on the BMI plane? Not worth it. BTW, the airport bus is very good value. It is clean, usually empty and gets you into town in about 20 mins or so.

Is London City Airport any good to you? I've found some occasional good deals from there to Edinburgh - but it's so convenient for me, I'm prepared to pay a bit more to avoid the time/cost of getting to any of the other London airports.

British Airways had a staff walkout at Heathrow airport this weekend, and all flights were cancelled for a time. Even though that action is now over, BA is having one TERRIBLE time sorting out the backlog of flights.

Thousands of people are extremely unhappy with BA right now, I can tell you. Don't know if that will affect your decision, but thought you might like to know, if you didn't already.

Just watch the luggage maximums. EasyJet and BMI are charging high penalties for exceeding their low luggage limts.
