BMI Fare from LHR to EDI

We'll be landing at LHR and plan to go directly to Edinburgh for a few days there and then to York before returning to London for the remainder of our stay in the UK. Am I dreaming when I see non-peak LHR-EDI fares running from only 4 to 8 pounds?!! If those numbers are correct, WOW.

Thank you, Kenderina. I couldn't believe my eyes.
Is this one of those "taxes are more than the base fare" things?

The taxes and fees are significantly more than the base price, but it's still a great deal.

What would be a ballpark figure--taxes more or less than double the base fare?

It's extremely easy to find out. Just click through the screens for a hypothetical purchase.

Didn't mean toscare you off - the fare will still be very low. But double would only be £8 - £16. I haven't walked through an itinerary on that route, but count on about £25 - £35 total

OK - I just picked 2 dates in Jan/Feb for R-T LHR/EDI. Base fare £8, taxes/fees £46.70, total R-T £54.70

so my £25 - £35 each way was pretty close

Thanks, All--
I'm a frequenter of the Africa boards, and lately there's been some concern about individuals making inquiries only to take the information others have provided and run with it, never to be heard from again. No thank you or anything. I DO want you to know that I appreciate the time you took to answer my question. My friend and I have purchased our LAX/LHR/LAX ticket for May 10, returning on May 21. Pretty good price through Bestfares ($657 all includive/non-stop). As I mentioned in the original post we are hoping to spend a little time around Edinburgh and then on to York before returning to London for the rest of our stay. We'll rely on the rail system to get back to London. At any rate, even if the BMI flight is triple what is listed as the base fare, it's a great fare. Thank you very much for the information.
