Last Sept. we had a one night layover in Paris on my wife's 45th birthday. I had the consierge book us on a dinner cruise on the Seine and it was wonderful. My fear was that the food would not be of the quality of a good French restaurant but that wasn't the case. The boat has a glass roof and the views were specatular. Very romantic but very pricey. Not sure how much you want to spend re: elaines comment but if you do a dinner cruise I'd recommend going first class which will be in the 150 Euro per person range.

Beechtree..I'd be giving you the loving of a lifetime if you knocked 10 years off my age!!
We did the Bauteaux Parisien dinner cruise..with good wines about $200.00 per person..but it was really lovely..though we did have a Parisien friend doing explanations..there is no commentary or touristy stuff.
For our 42nd anniverary last year , we took a suggestion from elaine on this board and dined at Chez Julien...lovely room and the food was good , service great and not expensive ..we just wanted a nearby ,comfortable place and this filled the bill...maybe less than 40€ /pp with wine. It's the compnay and not the price that counts!
