Big guy, little car
Has anyone here over 180cms tall driven a class A car (eg, Ford Ka)?
I will be touring in Devon and Cornwall this year and I am wondering how small a rental car I can comfortably drive. I am 183cms tall and it will be just me and my airline size (medium) suitcase.
I have been walking round the streets of my neighbourhood checking out smaller cars. Class B cars such as the Renault Clio and Ford Fiesta look very nice and would probably be comfortable to drive but I'm rather taken with the the cheeky little cars like the Ford Ka. I imagine they would be ideal for zipping along the narrow, winding west country roads and rather nice for squeezing into small parking spaces or pulling over to the side of narrow roads to take photographs. My concern is, will my legs start to feel awfully cramped after awhile and will my suitcase fit into the boot/trunk?

I(6'3") and my 6'5" friend spend the better part of a week driving a Fiat Punto around Croatia and found it remarkably comfortable. But a Punto is a size or two up from the Ka. 180cms is about 6" so maybe a smaller car would work for you. How many days? And will you be driving long stretches?

Two of my sons are both over 190cms (one nearer 2m!), my husband is also over 180cms and drove my Ford Ka quite happily. They even on occasion managed to curl up and sit on the back seat.
I loved my Ka, but I couldn't fit my two dogs in the back

sshephard: 10 days in total, but I will mostly be tootling about taking pictures. I figure to be doing about 100 miles a day, with frequent breaks.
hetismij: I peeped in the window of a Ford Ka and, with the driver's seat pushed way back, there seemed to be quite a lot of legroom for the driver. As no one will be using the back seat, I can push the driver's seat back as far as it will go.
Many thanks for the feedback
