Best website to purchase rail pass
I am going to purchase a rail euro rail select pass and maybe get a car or get it through Hertz. There are two adults, probably first class tickets. What is the best website to purchase from. I understand the prices are fixed but some sites charge a fee and some give more freebies.

Also, is it better to rent the car seperate or get a rail and drive pass? We want to car in Germany for 4 days to drive along the Rhien.

Thanks

Hi,

I assume that you have checked through www.railsaver and found that a railpass is cheaper than point-to-point.

http://www.eurorailways.com/ has free sshipping plus goodies. They are offering a "select saver and drive" package.

There was a discussion re this very topic not too long ago, which you can probably pull up with a text search for "railpass". Many people seemed to thing that the staff at ricksteves.com gave good free stuff and useful advice - perhaps they can advise you re the rail/drive plan.

Rail/Drive passes aren't sold my too many places. I bought them from RailEurope last year. Check there for various options and prices. Then compare that to renting a car. Most people on this site recommend autoeurope.com for the best prices.
