Best way to get from Germany to Romania

I will be traveling in Germany in mid August and my friend is meeting me there mid-trip. We will try to meet up somewhere in Germany and then we need to travel to Romania together for a friend's wedding. The wedding is in Brasov. We are weighing our options from getting to Germany to Romania. There are a number of flights but none of them are particularly cheap (especially after you add up all the crazy fees!). Taking a train is also not as cheap as we thought, and the train seems to take forever. We were considering taking a night train from Berlin to Budapest, spending a day in Budapest, and then spending the following night in a train to Brasov, making the loooonnnng train ride more tolerable and relatively affordable. Anyone have any experience going from Germany to Romania? Any suggestions? Our schedule is flexible but our budget is not- we're both students and the less money spent the better.

A few years ago I visited Brasov for business. It is a nice city with gorgeous landscape around. Don't miss to visit the so called Dracula castle in Bran (actually it was the castle of the Romanian Queen Maria) what is pretty close to Brasov and very romantic and beautiful.
I flew from Germany to Bucharest. A driver from the company I visited picked my up by car. It was a pretty long ride, but the landscape was wonderful.
What about taking a bus? Eurolines drives from Germany to Brasov. For example you could go from Hannover to Brasov. The trip takes approx. 35 hours and costs 113,- € / oneway per person. Here is the link to Eurolines: http://www.touring.de/index.php?id=2&L=1

Did you check all the low cost airlines? Wizzair ( http://wizzair.com/ ) has flights to Bucharest from Dortmund (tickets for mid-August start around $55) and Weeze (tickets in mid-August from $26).
From Bucharest you can get to Brasov by train (about 4 hours travel time, tickets start at ~$6)
