Flying to Athens for the first time in May 2010. I was reading in older posts that the airport metro was closed. Does anyone know if it has re-opened? If so, which is the better way to get into the city (to Acropoli Station) - metro right from the airport or take the bus to Syntagma Square, then metro? We will be arriving around 7am on a Monday and will have a 3-year-old and 9-month-old with us (don't want to take a taxi since we don't have car seats). Thanks for your help!

Either train or bus. The metro was open last Oct. Train would be quicker at that time of day.

I think the metro closure was temporary. Brotherleelove will hopefully chime in here and confirm if that's correct. We had a hire car meet us at the airport, but in hindsight the train would have been easy.

The Airport Blue Line Metro is open. Take it to Syntagma Square then transfer to the Red Line one stop south to the Acropoli Station. The Metro Train takes 45 minutes to reach Syntagma. At that time of the morning you'd run into rush hour traffic going into the city if you took the bus.
