Is it possible to get Gucci at a better price in Italy rather than in US?

I would say , sometimes, but not always. It really depends.<BR>Sometimes it depends on where you live (in the US)and what type of stores you have (some offer really good sales).<BR>Another important point is that you won't always find the same things here in Italy that you would in the US.<BR>They do not import all the same styles.<BR>

Also, remember to factor in the exchange rate. I live in germany and love JP Tods shoes. I can buy them for around 150 bucks here due to exchange rate and not haveing to pay the german sales tax. I am military. Also, make sure that is a real gucci store as that is of the most counterfeited companies around. I found this out the hard way, I bought a very expensive pair of loafers at the gucci store in Cancun, Mexico. When they started to fall apart I took them to the Gucci store in BEthesda MD, where the sales lady promptly told me they were fakes. The store looked exactly like the one I was standing in. Evidently, the Mexican govt did not have a problem with the fake gucci store selling crappy stuff and the original company had been trying to get them shut down for years but it was hard to do when the govt won't support it. So beware and check theier website to make sure it is the real thing. I am wearing my real gucci loafers now and I do love them the leather is so soft......

Ginger: I can promise you that if you are in Italy and see a Gucci store, it is for real.<BR>The only time you will have the problem xxx did is if you buy some Gucci off the street from street vendors.<BR>

Rgearding the "outlet complex"/Mall that Christina mentions. Driving from Florence on the autoroute one p.m., we found the exit, but upon exiting, all we saw were dozens (yes, dozens) of similar looking signs (brown with yellow text)pointing in multiple directions to various "outlet" locations and other businesses. Followed the intermittent, confusing signs to the supposed D&G outlet for 20 minutes and found nothing. For the most part, Italian road signs are OK, but these commercial ones were not. Gave up on finding others as it was getting too close to dusk.

Gucci loafers are 50% off from Needless-Markups and Saks, etc when we were in Milan last year. My advice is &quot;know before you go&quot;. If you delete U.S.import duties and local sales tax and if you use the VAT deductionwhen returning stateside and allow for the new $800 free duty to each traveler, you will save that way too.By the way, not all styles are in the US.<BR>Shop til you drop!
