Best Place in SardInia in Early March

We are visiting and renting a house for a week in early March. We want to see sights, eat, cook, maybe visit a winery. What area of the island should we stay in? We would like to be within an hour of an airport. We know it will be cold, but it would still be nice to be near the ocean. Someplace with public transportation or walking distance to a few restaurants would be ideal. We will rent a car for day trips but would like to be able to walk somewhere or take a bus for dinner.

We were in Sardinia last October, and it was still quite warm. March is still mild, cool at night but maybe 60 degrees during the day. If interested, here is our trip report: Sardinia! You Gotta Go!! 8 nights. October

We based in Alghero and Cagliari, both of which have airports. The other possibility is Bastia. Of the three, we would pick Cagliari, good proximity to some of the island's best beaches, good public transportation and a large vibrant city.

Correction: I meant to say Olbia not Bastia (which, of course, in Corsica.
