Best Peter Mayle book? I need to feel like I'm in Provence!

I just re-read A Year in Provence and Toujours Provence so I am wondering what other Peter Mayle books you recommend. Which others are his best?

I can't get to Europe this summer so please help!

Funny, I just finished re-watching the 4-part Year in Provence video series last night, pretending I was there...I need a pastis!

Read Hotel Pastis and read the novel he "meant" to write when he got sidetracked on "real" life in Provence. It is HILarious. And then just read All of them.

"Hotel Pastis" is great fun. I really like all the novels and hope there will be a new one coming out soon.

French Lessons is not exclusive to Provence, but is a great easy read. Each chapter is a stand-alone story of various culinary trips around the country.

Thanks! I'll give those a try. Glad to know his fiction is just as good.

I've read all his books except the latest. They are a little repetative at this point and I think there are better writers of this genre out there now.

Sorry, but I have to disagree about Hotel Pastis - I thought it was pretty tedious and don't think he would have gotten it published but for the success of his first effort.

There's another one you didn't mention you'd read. It's titled "Encore Provence", and if you liked the other two, you'll enjoy this one as well.
