Woule love to know where to eat in Paris on August 15 when everything seems to be closed. Or any other restaurant recommendations would be very appreciated!

Hi G,

Where are you in Paris?

Have you asked your hotel staff?

Sometimes the use of the word "best" is misleading. Are you asking for places where dining will cost upwards of $300 per person? Or are you just looking for some nice places with great food in the range of $50 to $100 a person? Any particular area of Paris?

What type of food/experience are you looking for? French? Other international cuisine? Vegetarian? Breakfast, lunch, or dinner? Cafe? Bistro? Lounge?

There are tons of possibilities. If you just want general restaurant recommendations, where people actually went and enjoyed their food, there are tons of trip reports that you can read on these boards. You can also do searches for "Paris restaurants" and find threads devoted to this topic.

For example, based on my searches on these boards, we went to a Moroccan restaurant in the 5th district called L'Atlas Moroccan. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, great food, reasonably priced. We ended up going twice for dinner, we liked it so much. That may/may not be the type of thing you're looking for. Only you can identify that and narrow your criteria accordingly. Hope this helps.

We enjoyed Le Caveau d'Isle (sp?) on the Ille Saint Louis. Its dinner fixed price menu was about 30 EU apiece, and we really liked our meal. Small, cute, friendly. Don't know if it would be open now or not.

Most hotel restaurants will be open in August; some are very good, some at the 3* level.

It is now just about past dinner time in Paris, so the need seems to be over, since the question was about today. Should have asked a little ahead.

Oh. I assumed the poster was asking about NEXT year. Anyone knows that a "BEST" restaurant in Paris isn't going to be a walk-in.

We love Le Grand Cafe near the old opera house. I would think they would be open, but you can check this out on their website legrandcafe.com.

I agree with artlover . We had a lovely meal there and the service and cost were both good. Don't know that I would say it is one of the best but you would enjoy it I'm sure.
