Best option for LHR return
We are taking a long weekend through London to Vienna late October for a short break and to maintain our airline Elite status. Arriving to LHR via EWR at 2040. Original plan was to stay at the airport Hilton overnight then fly to Vienna non stop at 0920 next morning. Unfortunately our tickets have become messed up and despite several 30 minute phone calls to the airline I have been unable to get the 0920 flight. Instead we have a 1930 flight to Vienna. So now we are planning to spend the day in London and fly out of LHR at 1930. Have for the last 20 years or so used Just Airports. Have not used the Piccadilly line to LHR for a long time. Have not use the Queen Elizabeth line although we were last in London last year. Plan to stay at a Marriott property as I have a 85000 pt voucher to use. Considering the Sheraton Grand Park Lane ( have stayed several times but not for 6 or 7 years), London Marriott Park Lane, and maybe the Edition, Wellesley Knightsbridge, or the Marriott Grosvenor. Did not care for the W when I visited it several years ago. Any advice as to which hotel and which way to get to LHR on a Friday afternoon? Can use business or first class check in so would getting to LHR 90 minutes before takeoff be reasonable? We have been to London many many times over the last 40 year using all 5 airports but have only flown out of LHR recently in the morning.

Friday afternoon traffic out of London is always a nightmare so I would avoid a car service unless you have a ton of luggage, in which case, leave early! In terms of convenience for LHR, of the hotels you mention, I would probably go for the Marriott Grosvenor Square and get the Elizabeth Line from Bond Street.

If you are OK with public transport, each of those hotels is convenient to LHR. The Sheraton is a 5 min walk from Green Park station; the Marriott is a very short cab or tube ride from the Elizabeth Line Bond Street station; and the easiest - the Edition is right AT the Hyde Park Corner station.
If you have much luggage -- taxi + Elizabeth Line would be easiest because it would be step free. For that option either the Marriott or Sheraton would be good
Of course - Just Airports is still a viable option but more expensive.

Did not include the JW or Grosvenor as they did not seem to be getting particularly good reviews. Could I suppose take a taxi from the Sheraton to Bond street? and get the Elizabeth line. I expect the Piccadilly line at 1700 to be a mess at Green Park. Its just one night so maybe I should go for the most convenient.

You could take a cab to Bond Street from any of the three. The Marriott (Park Lane) and Sheraton would be best for that though I'd avoid Green Park/the Piccadilly Line -- Green Park station is a bear at the best of times, but with luggage its even worse..
If it was me - taxi to Bond Street and Lizzy line which would be fastest (most Elizabeth Line trains go straight through to LHR but some - you do have to transfer at Paddington)
Only real issue with Just Airports is it would be sower than the Elizabeth Line . . .

Thank you janisj and crelleston. It turns out my certificate of 85 K can only be used for the basic room at each hotel. So the Grosvenor is 63K and I was hoping to use 72 K for an ungraded room but this is not possible. The Sheraton is at 79 K and has better basic rooms per reports and a better location for my other purposes and familiarity. The other option I just thought about is to use my certificate at my hotel in Vienna, the Bristol that I got at a great AAA rate. I would then pay cash for my London hotel and could book any good convenient hotel to the Elizabeth Line in central London. Any suggestions?

Anywhere on the Elizabeth Line would work -- Even a bit father NE around Farringdon Station.
Tone of possibilities -- what is your Budget?
(However - rates in London at any sort of nice hotel tend to be VERY high so you might get more bang for your buck using the certificate in London)

. . . or -- another much cheaper option -- you could stay at an LHR hotel and just go into London for the day the next morning. You don't arrive until almost 9PM so by the time you got to a central London hotel i would likely be close to 11PM. If you stay at/near the airport, you could check out the nexy morning, leave your bags and trip into the city on either the Elizabeth or Piccadilly line.

Yeah - I do the SMF > LAX or DFW or SEA > LHR trek a couple of times a year -- in Dec I 'get' to try SMF > PHX > LHR. But these flights pretty much arrive AM/early afternoon.
With those times - it sounds like you may be doing a United redeye to EWR then daytime flight to LHR? f so I'd be really exhausted and want to stay at the airport for sure . . .
There are 2 Hilton Garden Inns at LHR -- one 'Terminal 2 and 3' and one just 'Heathrow'. If you are at he T2-3 property that is a terrific choice. Walk directly from the hotel to the tube/Elizabeth Line

Yes working full day Wednesday and taking late flight out.
Have stayed at Hilton T2-3 before on way to Portugal last June and it was an easy and pleasant stay albeit somewhat expensive for an airport hotel. Easy to walk to though which accounts for price. Nice to know it’s easy to get to the Elizabeth line or tube from hotel. I like this way to Europe because we land in eve, go to bed and wake up to catch our next flight to our final destination where we arrive fairly rested. Hate arriving early morning anywhere with a significant time change and having to stay awake all day.
I am pretty sure the Hilton would have no problems keeping our bags for the day
