Best London accomodations?
Hello all!
My friend and I are visiting England at the end of April ... not for the Royal Wedding ... and need to stay overnight in London.
Any suggestions for affordable and good accomodations? Specific places would be greatly appreciated - its difficult to gauge a place from a picture on the internet, so I'm looking for personal experience
Thanks a lot!

Best for what? Price? Amenities? Location?
Before we can give any useful suggestions we need to know more . . . Where are you arriving from/departing to? That can make a big difference re location. What are you planning on doing while in London? That also can determine the best places to stay. What is your budget?

Hi All,
Okay, details ... right! Thanks for requesting the info.
We're flying into Heathrow in the a.m. We just need a basic twin room, preferably in an area easy to get to from the airport. We want to spend a day seeing what we can of the major tourist sites- particularly the Tower of London - before heading out of town the next day from Paddington Station. We know we won't be able to see all that we want, but plan to return when we can spend more time in London proper. As for budget, we want to do this as cheaply as possible, as we're uni students. Essentially trying to find a B&B/Guest House for as cheap as possible, while not sacrificing cleanliness, quiet, and fair comfort.
Appreciate the assistance!

Hi there, no worries
Private bath is not neccessary ... nice, but not necessary.
Budget. Still getting used to thinking in Pounds, but let's say around 85 pounds per night? Definitely trying to stay under 100 pounds.
Let me know if any other info would help!

Oh -shucks -- that is a great budget. That is why I asked
You'll be able to stay right in the center of things - AND get a private bath.
W/ the three things you mention (LHR/Tower of London/Paddington) I'd stay somewhere near the South Kensington or Gloucester Rd tube stations or possibly Victoria.
S Kens/Gloucester Rd are on the only tube line in from LHR, on a line to the Tower, and on a line to Paddington -- all w/o and changes. Victoria would require an easy line change in from LHR but otherwise convenient to the other two.
There are more budget accommodations around Victoria
this one http://tinyurl.com/4bknzpb is a Best Western near Victoria w/ rates that are VERY date specific. Bring up a month and it will display the nightly rate for doubles. Everything from less than £50 to about £105 depending on how full they are. So you can look to see what if it works for your date.

Janis is right--no prob getting a nice hotel or B and B in your price range. YOu can definkitely get a place with an unshared loo!
Above is a site to get you started , and this particular link is for hotels and b and b's near your departure point of Paddington, as that might be most convenient for either walking to station, or quick cab.

Star,When you find a good deal....DO NOT WAIT to book accomodations . since you are going the week or the Royal Wedding. It is a 4 day weekend for locals, and i already see that hotel would usually have bargain prices on Hotwire,(based on number of empty rooms) are not listed.
Also, check Hotels.com and do a serch based on lowest to highest prices.
For actual experiences..I have stayed in the Hilton Metropole, and a bunch of the hotels nr Gloucester Road, among those locations that might be good for you. But DO check tripadvisor reviews
a good area for reasonable (usually) bed and breakfast t places is Sussex Gardens--convenient for Paddington the morning you depart.

Yes hurry and book London NOW. I just read an article in an English paper that rooms are going fast. Try Kayak. I booked at the Gloucster Kensngton , a twin breakfast included for 85 GBP. It is right acrss from the SKen tube station and very well located. They also had the Regency House for 90 GBP
Look at ondontown.com and Kayak for good rates.I really prefer South Kensington locations becasue the transportation ortions and local service are so good

Some specific places:
http://www.ridgemounthotel.co.uk/ - Very well located (Bloomsbury) hotel, some w/ en suite bathrooms. Cheap.
http://www.yha.org.uk/find-accommoda...eet/index.aspx Even better located (Soho). No better or worse than any dorm room, but the location and savings (super cheap) may make it worth it for you - especially for only one night.
http://www.abbeycourthydeparkhotel.co.uk/ Very nice place right by Paddington Station - may (or may not) be within your budget. Worth checking.

Thought I'd jump in here with my request also.
Flying into Heathrow June 20 departing June 22. Looking for the following:
- hotel near Victoria or Paddington Station
- single room with ensuite
- budget no more than 110 pounds
- somewhere the Heathrow Express will get me to as I am a solo traveller with lots of bags and a bad back.
- clean & safe a must!!
Checked the Abbey Court Hyde Park Hotel which looked great but was already fully booked!
Any feedback on the Best Western Victoria?
Any tried & true suggestions??
