I'm considering the Lutece. But in your expert opinions, what is the best hotel on Ile St. Louis? Meaning good location (pretty likely), clean, quiet, and comfortable.

Either the Deux Illes or the Lutece.The Lutece is very charming, well run, excellent staff,a fireplace in the lobby,a tiny tiny elevator,and a sweet maid that will bring your breakfast to your room,where you can sit in the window and look out over the rooftops of Paris~<BR>Across the street is an amazing Patiserrie and next door to that is a wonderful Cremerie full of incredible frommage! Yes the rooms are small, but how much room does one need?.When we stayed at the Lutece,a few years ago- we had a bed for 2, a huge bathroom and two windows, tv and a/c if needed.What more does one need in a hotel in Paris? Have fun!

Without question, the best (and most expensive) hotel on Ile Dt. Louis is the Hotel du Jeu de Paume.

I agree with Bill as I stayed at Hotel du Jeu de Paume a few weeks ago. View the hotel on their website. It is a beautiful open space hotel with beamed ceilings, even in the rooms. The room was quaint, small but comfortable with good natural light, cleaned well every day, and bath was surprisingly modernized. The staff very helpful and courteous and discreet. There are touches of the contemporary with the classic that make the interior so interesting. Tour groups are lead through the private alley and past the entrance to peer inside. Eat at a small jazz restaurant across the street, Relais De L'isle and enjoy the local shopping. I found it very easy to walk to left and right banks and metro was right across the bridge.

Do a search for other posts on Jeu de Paume. I HATED it, and thought I was being ripped off brilliantly. It was a good job I didn't bring my cat, because he wouldn't have swung at all well. If he'd hit the wall, he wouldn't have hurt himself - he would have gone straight through! It was about six or seven years ago, so things may have improved, but I seem to remember paying about $200+ a night. My guess is that a suite at the Crillon works out at less psf.<BR><BR>There was some good advice on this board a few months ago about which rooms to ask for at Jeu de Paume. It appears that, if you are in the know, there are good rooms available.

Hi there John,<BR><BR>Whilst I didn't HATE the Jeu de Paume, I certainly felt that it was more expensive than it was worth - even for Parisian standards. As Mike says, do a search for more threads on the Jeu de Paume, I also think that you could probably do better for spending that sort of money.<BR><BR>Kind regards,<BR>Jade
