martytravels,
Another resounding vote for that crepe stand right in front of the Eglise St. Germain, at the corner of the Place St. Germain next to the metro. That guy does a booming business, and his crepes are fantastic. I always save room for one trip over to his stand.

Two votes here for the area around Montparnasse. My wife, who is French and therefore infinately more sensitive than me for these sorts of things says that short of taking a trip to Brittany the only place to get a great crepe is Montparnasse. Apparently, there is an historical reason: the area at one time was a kind of Breton ghetto and so you can still get an authentic crepe there. We especially like two little restaurants along the rue d'odessa. i can't remember their names, but as you want up the rue d'odessa from the square in front of montparnasse you will see them after 100 yards or so on your right. then its bon appétit!

Betsy - I had many crepes from that stand on Rue Cler on my last trip to Paris, and enjoyed every one. Can't say that I had a bad crepe anywhere in Paris, actually, and I sampled many.
Nutella and Grand Marnier, sugar and butter, ham egg and cheese - all wonderful!
One thing I will say, though. I prefer eating crepes in the less-touristy areas after walking through the Les Halles area with a wonderful butter and sugar crepe. The birds in these areas are quite brazen, and one of them certainly made my heart race as it landed on my hand and tried to steal my crepe from me! Thankfully it only got a piece, and I enjoyed the rest of my snack after my heartbeat returned to normal.
