Best/cheapest way to book high speed train from Berlin to Frankfurt

Hello
I will be in Berlin in September for work and am considering visiting a friend. I must fly out of Berlin so I was considering using the train instead of flying to and from Frankfurt.

Any advice is much appreciated

Thanks

Best and cheapest way to book the ICE is right on Deutche Bahn's website.

The earlier you get the tickets, the cheaper they are. Look for Sparpreis fares for the cheapest option. I am seeing 59 Euro fares round trip.

Please note that for Sparpreis bookings, you are obliged to take the train you have booked. For full-fare tickets you can basically take any train that day that goes from your origin to your destination.

You can book a max of 90 days beforehand so start looking next month for your cheap ticket.

Good luck.

Thanks a lot sparkchaser, that is very helpful. These fares are much better than I thought I'd pay

My suggestions:

1. Book a non-stop ICE train.

2. If you book 80+ days beforehand then you can get inexpensive First Class tickets.

3. Reserve a seat.

Tickets go on sale 92 days (not 90 days) prior to travel date. This route is always busy and the cheap savings fares can be gone within hours. So do your maths, and book as soon as the tickets go on sale.

Today the Bahn.de site is selling tickets for that route for no earlier than the 13th of August
