Holy crap cold. As much as I enjoy hiking, I think I'll give those particular excursions a very wide berth. Just reading your descriptions has given me a severe case of the heebie jeebies, and heights don't even bother me all that much (although falling from one certainly would).

What a fascinating trip, thanks for taking the time to post your adventures.

Thanks Catcrazyaf and Melnq8. Reading these replies has almost made climbing the 900 meters of steep rock at the Besseggen (swearing the whole way) worth it!
