Berlin taxi/bus Tegel to Alexanderplatz
We are 2 mature senior couples. We wish to ride together (and above ground to see the scenery) from Tegel to Alexanderplatz (our hotel). Will 1 taxi be able to handle 4 people with one standard suitcase each. What would be the approximate fare ? If not a taxi can the 48 hours public bus pass be purchased at the airport? If so would it be valid on the "Express Bus" that is mentioned in travel books ? Thank you. Dave

Take a taxi. There will be plenty of taxis which are large enough. The fare will be around 30 Euros for all 4. (And give a tip of 2 Euros, maybe 3 if the driver is especially helpful.)
The bus will not be significantly cheaper (since you share a taxi) and certainly less comfortable.

I recently took TXL bus from Tegel to Friedrichstrasse/Unter den Linden--which is not that far from Alexanderplatz. The fare is 2.2 euros.
A taxi from that vicinity to Tegel is about 17-20 Euros.
