It is not a very active time, and all Google found me were these two.

whatsonwhen.com - Tanztage Berlin
... Event Details. First date, 2-16 January 2004 (Every year). Click here for a complete
list of dates. Opening Hours, Most performances 8pm. ... State, Berlin. Town, Berlin. ...
The site http://www.whatsonwhen.com/events/~67465.jml covers the Dance Festival that shows Berlin dancers and choreograohers, 1 to 16 January.

http://business.whatsonwhen.com covers the International Green Week Berlin, 16-25 January , which shows companies working in agriculture, forestry and gardening, fresh food, delicatessen, and wine.

Try www.timeout.com. If they cover Berlin, they have a section there on current events, which if not already showing January, should be by now. Berlin's museums are endless, so I am sure you will find something. Timeout also has a "links" section which may take you to more local websites, for example many European cities have an English language newspaper, often with its own website. Also, try to track down the websites for the major museums. No offense to Fodors, but www.frommers.com includes in the description of museums links to the museum's website. (Find your way to the description of the museum there and look in the little box on the side where the address and hours are listed.) We loved Berlin (June 2001). Have a great trip!

IMHO one very "special" event will be the fact that you wouldn't have to wait in a long line to get into the superb Sans Souci!

Time Out give a link to
http://www.berlin.de/english/entertainment.html, with about a thousand events for January. At http://www.timeout.com/berlin/intagenda.html Time Out gives a few events for last May and June.

The Berlin web pages of In Your Pocket have no events list for January.

Ben is right- usually inyourpocket provides great information- so I mentioned it.
However, they have not yet listed January's activities yet. They should come up with them sometime soon, though, I should guess. Trouble is that their German activities are still in the making as they have been around the market for only half a year probably.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused, but I still think the page will become valuable!
