we (family of 4 ) will be in Berlin in july. We made a reservation for an appartment fot the 5 nights. Our appartment is on Claudiusstrasse neat Belevue s-bahn. Should we stay there for the 5 nights our should we stay there for 3 nights and find another lodging in another part of the town for the two others night ?

Stay the same place would made us avoid to carry all ouir lufggage in town. Change place would give us another perspectrive of the city and maybe we could find something a bit upscaled since it will be only for 2 nights.

By the way how good (or bad) is the location of our appartment ? We dont have a precise itinerary, It's our first time in Berlin so usual tourist with 2 young kids stuff !

Don't know where your apt is so can't comment. Have you mapped out the sights you want to see and the pubic transit near the apt?

And IMHO moving for only 2 days is a major PIA _ esp with 2 small kids. Makes no sense to me.

Unless your apartment is problematic in some way moving seems unwieldy.

The so called Hansa-Viertel is a good area to stay with good public transport both to the West and the East. If your App. is ok, I won't move. Some pics you can find here (the french WP article is a stub):

You might consider buying an BerlinWelcome Card for public transport upon arrival: http://www.berlin-welcomecard.de/fr

There is a vending point in the Main station: "L'Office du tourisme de Berlin est situé directement sur les allées commerciales de la nouvelle gare centrale, situé directement en face du Point de service de la Deutsche Bahn."

Knowing that our appartement is in a good location is reassuring. Since our appartment (like the vast majority) doesn't have A/C I though that we could move for 2 nights and enjoy a/c a bit in the heat of july. We couldn't pass on the appart since the review and the price where great.

Yes, the BVG office is near the main info point and open 7:00 -- 22:00.

BTW, nobody can predict whether "the heat of July" actually will materialize. It might get lousy could instead, like today, when we should have 20 degrees celsius and in fact have 8 ...

Sounds like a good decision, we had eight days in Berlin last summer and I thought about moving in the middle. Ultimately we were glad we stayed in one place as it makes for a more relaxed experience. The public transport is so good in Berlin that it's easy to get around anyway. More on Berlin on my blog
