Bergamo Alta for Two Weeks
Hi All,
Thank you so much for all of the recommendations for towns in Northern Italy to settle in for a few weeks while we work remotely. Someone here suggested that the availability of an apartment might make my selection of a town for me and they may be right!
I found a lovely apartment with a view in Bergamo Alta. While it is a bit far from Bolzano and Venice, I think I could still make that itinerary work with a couple of train trips. What is your opinion of Bergamo Alta? Are there good day trips from there? I must say the town looks a little small to me.
Thanks in advance!

My family is from there. I went there for the first time in Nov 2022. It is delightful, lovely, charming but transpo up there is by bus to the funicular and then walking the steep narrow streets. Or there is a bus that goes up from the train station. So will will have to factor in an additional 30 to maybe 45 minutes if you are planning on taking day trips out of there.

Thanks Jan!
is the upper town as small as it appears on Google maps? I see about a dozen shops and a dozen restaurants all on one Main Street (Via Gombitto) through the middle of town.
or is it a maze of tiny streets with different places?
