Bellevue or Argentina in Dubrovnik???

Does anyone have an opinion about staying at the Bellevue or the Argentina? The Argentina looks marginally nicer, but the Bellevue is much cheaper. Would appreciate any opinions.

It's been several years since we stayed at the Bellevue but I can tell you that the location was just fine, about 10 minute walk from old town, and I thought the room was fine. I understand that the hotel was been renovated since we were there. Our room had a nice view of the Adriatic.

I would stay there again if I returned.

They are about same walking distance to the historic old-town, but on diametrically opposite sides. Bellevue is after it and Argentina before it, and they are relatively far from each other.

Having said that, the side Argentina is on is the side where all the other top hotels are located. Reason being is that they are on a relatively high vantage point and, if you get a nice room, you have a spectacular view of the whole walled town, the port and the stunning island of Lokrum. The walk down to town is also a very nice promenade.

Bellevue is the only hotel on the coast in the part of town where it is located, and it is situated in a gulf. What this means is basically no views of old-town: left or right you can see Lapad and Pile respectively (or straight across - the sea), but both are just relatively unsightly residential and business areas, especially Pile... You are basically stuck at the bottom of a small gulf with very little view of anything.

I have never stayed at Bellevue (have been a couple of times for a drink, but long time ago), so cannot discuss its amenities. I usually mostly stay at Excelsior (always the old building) and have stayed once or twice in Argentina. Think that area is better and the hotels are more luxurious..

I was a little harsh on Bellevue..It does have a very nice view of the sea and the little gulf, but just that...And Argentina is more luxurious...
