Bellagio to Malpensa-train or bus?

Which would be the shortest time-wise from Bellagio to Malpensa: cab to Como city-train to Malpensa OR bus to Como city-train to Malpensa? Anyone know about how expensive a land cab would be? Has anyone taken the C250 bus from Menaggio to Malpensa? Does it run on 28 March?? Many thanks!

Take a taxi from Bellagio to the Como Bus Depot, then the 7:00 a.m. airporter bus DIRECT NON-STOP to Malpensa Airport for 13 Euros one-way.

You probably won't be able to make the 7:00 a.m. airporter bus by taking the C30 line from Bellagio to Como, nor by taking a hydrofoil or ferry boat.

I don't know whether the C250 bus still runs from Menaggio any more. Even if it did, you probably would not have enough time to reach Menaggio from Bellagio by boat, as you'd need to take a boat at around 6:00 a.m. (don't think they operate that early in March -- you would need to check on the website).

By taking the airporter bus from Como, you'll save about 100 Euros.

Thank you very much GAC. Is cab fare large from Bellagio to Como city? Read someplace in these fora that Milan-area traffic can be questionable so wondered if train made more sense. BTW it will be Easter Monday. Again, appreciate your input. donco

There is a departure of Line C30 from Bellagio at 5:55 (Monday thru Saturday), arriving at the Como Bus Depot at 6:58, allowing a TWO MINUTE connection to the 7:00 a.m. airporter bus to Malpensa Airport with the same bus operator. That's cutting it close!!!

There is a reasonable possibility that the connection is guaranteed, but you should inquire with the bus operator.

If the connection is indeed guaranteed, you'll save the 60 Euro taxi fare between Bellagio and Como, paying only the bus fare of 2.60 Euros!!!!!!!

If you MISS the connection, you can still take a taxi from Como to Malpensa Airport (for about 100 Euros), or check out the train schedules from Como Nord Lago Station (across the square from the bus depot), requiring a train connection at Saronno (see my other postings). www.ferrovienord.it

I can CONFIRM that the airporter bus service to Malpensa Airport NO LONGER originates in Menaggio, as in the past. The airporter bus now originates in the City of Como. Passengers must take Bus Line C10 from Menaggio to Como and connect.

From Bellagio, passengers must take Bus Line C30 and connect as well.

There is also the ferry boat/hydrofoil from both Bellagio and Menaggio, but NOT early enough in the morning to connect to the 7:00 a.m. airporter bus to Malpensa. OUCH!

GAC. I just went to the spt como web site and under servizi they say the bus goes directly from Menaggio to the airport. I'm confused.

cjtrav: I see on the website where you read this information. I believe that it's outdated and in need of revision. If you look at the webpage on the actual schedules, you'll see that the number of bus runs has been reduced from 6 to 3, and all buses now originate in and terminate at Como. These schedules are valid through March 31, 2005.

You may want to send SPT Como an e-message requesting further clarification.

I'll try to send them an e-message as well requesting that they update the apparently erroneous pages on their site.

GAC - Thanks for your help. I did send an e-mail to the web site with my date in June that we would be leaving, so I'm hoping for a positive reply that they are still keeping the Como schedule through June. Thanks for all your help. cjtrav

Update on the bus to Malpensa. I just got an e-mail from them and they said they are "working on their schedule". So I'm not counting on that just yet.
