Bellagio sightseeing

We will be staying in Bellagio for 3 nights May 11-13 at Hotel Belvedere. How should we spend our time? (other than wandering through the quaint streets and soaking up the scenery? Are there are "must sees" such as villas or towns? Any special restaurants we should know about? Any ideas about what weather we may encounter?

Well, Bellagio & the Hotel Belvedere are wonderful. We were there 2 years ago and had huge plans to sightsee Villas, etc. but the weather was so perfect and the spirit seemed to say-just relax! We took the hydrofoil to Como and walked around on a rainy day. Enjoyed pizza bought by the weight and a neat gelati store where the owner explained his process of making gelati. Our best meal was at La Perogola (sorry I killed the spelling). It's actually straight down from the Belvedere, we were on a private path by mistake. We had reservations, but we were there in July.

Take the ferries and visit the sights in Varenna, Tremezzo and the other towns on the lake. For restaurants, definitely go to Bilacus in Bellagio.

Villa Balbianiello is definitely a
must-see.

Best wishes,

In nice weather, just taking the boats around the lake can be fun - the views of the mountains all around are stunning. A few links and notes on places we like are on http://www.straughan.com/italy/lake_como.htm
